Roles and responsibilities:
  • Managing all Company insurance programs such as property, liability, group life, health, workers’ compensation, etc
  • Preparing, managing and placing insurance quotations and coverage required for NDPHC’s projects on a timely basis
  • Managing data to appropriately track and report to insurance carriers
  • Ensuring requests for Certificates of Insurance and other items are processed on a timely basis
  • Reviewing policies for accuracy and coverage. Order policy changes as required providing adequate and necessary coverage for new locations and exposures
  • Ensuring insurance certificates received are reviewed to guarantee compliance with NDPHC’s standards and contract requirements
  • Constantly improving and updating procedures and processes to ensure excellent delivery of all insurance services
  • Assisting in the annual renewal process for Corporate Insurance
  • Assisting in claims management and reporting as required
  • Maintaining on-going contact with EPCs to discuss any new insurance procedures, answer ongoing issues relating to project insurance, and provide assistance whenever necessary
  • Communicating with the legal department for both contract reviews and any claims assistance they may require
  • Working co-operatively with broker and carriers to deliver excellent quality service.
  • Identifying and analyzing risk associated with multitude of exposures
  • Preparing operational and risks reports for Management analysis
  • Working with the Executive Director and others for creative, logical and appropriate solutions to minimize risk to the Company
  • Interpreting, creating and altering contract language regarding insurance requirements, indemnity provisions, waivers of subrogation etc., associated with leases, construction agreements, and other relevant legal contracts, in conjunction with our legal department
  • Reviewing insurance/broker invoices. Investigating inconsistencies and high values for appropriateness
  • Identifying potential loss exposures, and determining means of controlling losses.
  • Evaluating, negotiating and procuring risk transfer strategies
  • Developing and presenting to the Executive Committee of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) the annual insurance plan and respective quarterly updates, where required
  • Determining limits of insurance coverage including deductible levels, design, terms and price of insurances if appropriate
  • Any other tasks as assigned from time to time
