Position Title: Communication Officer, NOB

Contract Type: Fixed Term
Duration: Two years
Location: Abuja

UNICEF Nigeria seeks the services of experienced Communication Officer who will Under the General supervision of the Communication Specialist, P4, Abuja assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating an advocacy and communication strategy to get children's and women's issues into the public domain, strengthen political will in support of the UNICEF's mission and objectives in the country, and enhance the organisation's credibility and brand.

Minimum Qualification & Competencies: -
  1. University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
  2. 2 years practical professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media.
  3. Field work experience
  4. Background/familiarity with emergency situations.
  5. Proven knowledge and experience of using social media for social development messaging
  6. Excellent writing skills for web Solid understanding of the communication universe of children and youth
  7. High ethical standards and understanding of sensitivities relating to child protection
  8. Fluency in English language is essential. Knowledge of one other UN working language an asset. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
  9. Proven skills in communication, working with people and drive for result.
  10. Relating, networking, persuading and influencing
  11. Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment.
  12. Knowledge of computer systems and applications
  13. Initiative, passion and commitment to UNICEF’s mission and professional values.
