REQUIREMENTS & POSITION SUMMARY
HEAD, SECRETARIAT
Position Summary: The position holder will report directly to the Head of Legal Services and Secretary to the Board, the successful candidate will manage and direct the Commission’s secretariat function. As the Secretary, he/she will have direct responsibility for planning and organising all meetings of the Commission's Board and its committees. This will include developing, maintaining, and coordinating the distribution of records of all Board meetings, minutes and reports.
Requirements: A good first degree or its equivalent in Law. Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association is essential. A post-graduate degree and/or relevant professional qualification(s) will be an advantage. A minimum of 8 years’ relevant professional experience or 16 years’ related experience in the Civil Service.
HEAD, INTERNATIONAL BILATERAL RELATIONS
Position Summary: The position holder will reporting to the Head, Legal Services, the successful candidate will have primary responsibility for building and maintaining bilateral relations with foreign entities and countries on matters of identity management. In particular, he/she will handle meetings with international organisations and representatives of foreign countries. This role also encompasses the management of the Commission's International Trade Marks and Patents.
Requirements: A good first degree or its equivalent in International Relations, Law, International Law and/or Diplomacy. A minimum of 8 years' relevant professional experience or 16 years' experience in the Civil Service. Practical experience in legal drafting and conveyance, as well as intellectual property management. Strong appreciation of the principles of economics and regulation in the Identity Management industry
HEAD, LITIGATIONS
Position Summary: The position holder will work with the Head, Legal Services in managing NIMC's litigations. Specifically, he/she will supervise legal officers responsible for instituting or defending lawsuits against the Commission, as well as liaise with external counsels in delivering optimum legal support to the Commission.
Requirements: A good degree in law from a reputable institution. Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association is essential. A minimum of 8 years’ relevant professional experience or 16 years' cognate experience in the Civil Service. This should include a minimum of 5 years’ practical experience in litigation and trial from a reputable professional firm, an academic institution or public sector. Proven track record of success in managing a diverse litigation portfolio. Knowledge of commercial transactions, practices, regulations and laws in the Identity Management Sector.
LEGAL DRAFTING & COMMERCIAL TRANSACTIONS
Position Summary: The position holder will reporting to the Head, Legal Services, the successful candidate will oversee the legal aspects of all commercial transactions. Inherent in this will be the negotiation, drafting and vetting of all contracts, agreements, leases, joint venture arrangements, as well as the Commission’s identity management related licenses.
Requirements: A good degree in law from a reputable institution. Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association is essential. A minimum of 8 years' relevant, professional experience or 16 years' cognate experience in the Civil Service. Hands-on experience in legal drafting and conveyance, as well as intellectual property management
