Diageo Nigeria is currently recruiting to the position of Business & Consumer Planning Analyst (AutoReqId: 36430BR) for its Marketing function in Nigeria. This position is based in lagos with some travels within/ outside Nigeria. The successful candidates will reports to the Head of Consumer Planning & Research.


Critical to success for Guinness Nigeria in F13 and beyond is the opportunity to study and apply breakthrough and strategic thinking to Brand Building through detailed Competitive & business analysis for future planning and effective Controls, Compliance & Ethics.

Working closely with the Head of Consumer Planning & Research and the Marketing Director, this role is responsible for developing, analysing and generating insights from primary & secondary research

The role holder will work closely with the Marketing team to ensure performance dashboard & scorecards are accurately maintained with Brand Activities and business targets.

  • Leadership and Functional Responsibilities
  • Work closely with other functional teams and external agencies e.g. consultants, benchmark companies etc
  • Management and Accountability for Business Unit Monthly Reporting
  • Maintains business critical controls & compliance documentation to ensure complete transparency across the Portfolio
  • Keep abreast of consumer, customer trends across markets
  • Able to manage research agencies and projects
  • Be experienced in dealing with strategic and tactical brand issues, able to effectively implement consumer& trade learning from a variety of tools
Key Accountabilities
  • Establish effective methods of data collection, storage and dissemination to support the business with timely and accurate competitive intelligence both routinely and in response to specific requests
  • Identifies key consumer issues & ensures insights are applied to drive brand growth
  • Support the development of the annual strategic plan
  • Drive competitor’s intelligence and ensure external and internal factors are balanced in decision-making
  • Maintain and develop competitor profiles and use this knowledge to anticipate future issues affecting the business
  • Develop an engaging and challenging discussion with Guinness Leadership Team on macro-economic situations to ensure all competitive threats have been considered
Qualifications and Experience Required
  1. University degree in Marketing /Business or other related discipline
  2. 1 – 2 years Brand, Trade marketing or Research analytics experience
  3. Good communications skills able to facilitate and lead discussions
  4. Strong analytical skills - able to integrate learning from multiple sources and generate insights and innovative strategies from external and internal data
  5. Demonstrates high marketing Judgement - understands the true consumer impact of our brand building “output” by using logical criteria with practical instinct to judge
  6. Ability to use performance measurement tools & sound financial management
Barriers to Success in Role--Inability to work in and influence a cross functional team
  • Inability to work under own initiative / poor numerate skills
  • Does not possess an insatiable appetite for learning & application
  • Inability to learn fast, adaptation to a new, flexible role and manage relationships with varied stakeholders
