The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the position of Research Technician II at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan (Hybridyzation, Data Management and Field). There three vacancies are available on this position. These positions are on 2 year renewable contract.

POSITIONS RESPONSIBILITIES, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
1. Research Technician II - (Hybridyzation) Ibadan
- Assist set up and conduct field experiments including all aspects of data collection
- Lead field activities related to maintenance of genetic stocks, seed distributions and hybridization in Ibadan.
- Manage processing, packaging, labelling, distribution and storage of botanic seeds
- Assist with data management related to seed production
- Assist establishment and maintenance of seedling nurseries
- Assist training students on Industrial Attachment, National Youth Service Corps and other partner institutes
- Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualification, Experience and Skills
- Ordinary National Diploma in Crop Production, General Agriculture, Horticulture or related discipline from a reputable university/college/polytechnic
- Minimum experience of 5 years in a similar position
- Basic knowledge of crop management operations
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure
2. Research Technician II - (Data Management) Ibadan
- Assist set up and conduct field experiments including all aspects of data collection.
- Team leader and trainer for the collection and management of data.
- Serve on teams for pollinations, determination of dry matter content, cyanogenic content, post harvest physiological deterioration and root mealiness.
- Assist with agronomic trial establishment, management and data collection.
- Assist training students on Industrial Attachment, National Youth Service Corps and other partner institutes.
- Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification, Experience and Skills
- Ordinary National Diploma in Crop Production, Statistics, General Agriculture, Horticulture or related discipline from a reputable university/college/polytechnic.
- Minimum experience of 5 years in a similar position.
- Basic knowledge of crop management operations.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure.
3. Research Technician II - (Field) Ibadan
- Assist set up and conduct field experiments including all aspects of data collection
- Assist technicians and other support staff in data collection and delivery to the cassava database curator
- Assist in electronic data collection, entry and quality management of experimental data
- Serve on teams for pollinations, determination of dry matter content, cyanogenic content, post harvest physiological deterioration and root mealiness
- Support the unit by driving unit vehicles for transport of personnel, materials and supplies
- Assist in the multiplication of selected genotypes
- Assist with logistics, organization of displays for tours and demonstrations
- Assist training students on Industrial Attachment, National Youth Service Corps and other partner institutes
- Performs any other duty assigned by the supervisor
Qualification, Experience and Skills
- Ordinary National Diploma in Crop Production, General Agriculture, Horticulture or related discipline from a reputable university/college/polytechnic
- Minimum experience of 5 years in a similar position
- Basic knowledge of crop management operations
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure.
