The Governing Council of the University of Abuja announces that the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University will soon be vacant. In accordance with the provisions of the Universities Miscellaneous Provision Act 1993, as amended, Council invites applications from suitably qualified candidates, with experience in University administration, for the post.
The University has nine Faculties, a College of Health Sciences, a Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education (CDL&CE), Institute of Education, among others. The University has a student population of fifty-four thousand and a staff strength of three thousand.
Candidates’ Profile
- The candidate must be a distinguished academic of national and international repute with proven track records.
- The candidate must have a good understanding of the vision and mission of the University in its pursuit of academic excellence that is recognized globally.
- He/She should be innovative, capable of inspiring advancement of learning, with a strong aspiration and commitment for providing effective leadership.
- He/she should also be an astute manager of resources.
Conditions of Service
The appointment will be for a single term of five years only. Salary and allowances shall be as applicable to the post of Vice-Chancellors in Nigerian Federal Universities.
Age of Applicants
Eligible Candidates should not be more than sixty-five years old at the time of assumption of office on 1st July, 2014.
Method of Application
Applicants must submit names and addresses of three (3) referees who should be requested to forward their referees report to the Registrar, one of whom must be a superior officer to whom the applicant reports, under confidential cover.
