What is Basic Military Training Course?
The Basic Military Training Course is a Short Period Training for the Airmen and Airwomen, not normally more than 6 months of training. It is mainly for those who possess Secondary School Certificate, National Diploma certificate, NABTEB, RN/RM/NCE, or City & Guild Certificate and Trade Test Certificate. The BMTC is comprised of Non-Tradesmen/Women with an age limit between 18 and 22, and Tradesmen/Women with an age limit between 18 and 25.
Note: This information for every candidate who wants to apply for NAF trade and non-trade / men/women recruitment that the application process is free and no payment should be made at any point during the entire exercise.
General Instructions for Application
- Applicants by birth must be Nigerian citizens.
- Applicants should be between 18 to 22 years of age for non-tradesmen / women and 18 to 25 years by 28 February 2022 for tradesmen/women. Those applying as Assistant Chaplains / Assistant Imams and Drivers should be between 18 to 28 years of age by 28 February 2022.
- All applicants must be single.
- The minimum height is 1.66 meters or 5.4 feet for men and 1.63 meters or 5.3 feet for women.
- Applicants must be medically and physically fit and must meet the medical and employment standards of the Nigerian Air Force.
Local Government Area Attention Form:
Applicants' Local Government Area Attention Form must be signed by a military officer of the same state who is not below the rank of Wing Commander in the Nigerian Air Force or equivalent in the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy.
Assistant Commissioner from the local government area of the applicants and above or a police officer of the rank of local government area president/secretaries and magistrates. The Local Government Area Verification Form should contain a photograph of the passport and a driver's license of the signatories or a photocopy of the national ID card or international passport. The signatory also has to authenticate on the back of the passport photograph of the applicant.
Submission of Initial Certificate:
- Successful applicants must present their original credentials for scrutiny in the selection practice of the Selection Board. The certificate includes the following:
- Two recent passport size photographs should be stamped and counted by an officer of appropriate rank as described in para.
- Original and photocopy of birth certificate or age declaration.
- Photocopy of original and educational / trade certificate
- Original and photocopy of the applicant's local government / indigenous certificate of the original state.
- Original and photocopy signature of a letter of good character signed by an official of appropriate rank as described in a paragraph in the paragraph.

Upon completion of the application form, applicants must take a printout of the documents listed below:
- Gratitude slip
- Parent / Guardian Verification Form.
- Local Government Area Verification Form.
Successful applicants will be invited to practice selection board interviews through the portal.
Requirement
Non-Tradesmen/women:
Applicants applying for Non-Tradesmen/Women must possess a minimum of 5 credits including Mathematics and English Language in not more than 2 sittings in SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB. In addition, applicants are required to possess their school's testimonials.
Tradesmen / Women:
Applicants must have at least 2 credits/merit in ND / NCE or at least 2 passes from reputed and government-recognized institutions/organizations and no more than 2 credits in SSCE in the English language. GCE / NECO / NABTEB.
Applicants applying as drivers must have a minimum of 2 passes in SSCE / GCE / NECO / NABTEB with credits in the English language, a trade test certificate, and a valid driver's license.
Applicants applying as sportsmen/women must have passed 2 in SSCE / GCE / NECO / NABTEB with credit in English and proof of professional experience which should include a certificate and medal.
